Padma Bridge In Bangladesh



In Bangladesh Padma is a multipurpose bridge across the Padma River. It's the longest bridge in Bangladesh. It's a road and rail ground. It'll connect the south- west of the country to the northern and eastern region. Padma is the most grueling design in Bangladesh and is funded by the Bangladesh Government. It's a two subcaste sword stilt bridge where the upper subcaste will be used for trace and lower subcaste will be used for road. Upper position is a four lane track but the road is single track but both cadence hand and broad hand trains can run on the bridge. The islands one side positioned at Mawa, Munshiganj and other side positioned at Zajira, Shariatpur District. 21 sections in the south region will be connected by Padma Bridge. Total cost of the bridge was BDT301933.88 Million for the 2nd RDPP.




Padma Multipurpose Bridge History

The Government has taken a decision to make Padma Bridge by its own finances and started a feasibility study in 1999. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Padma Bridge construction on December 12, 2015. Its 1st span was installed on September 30, 2017 on 37 and 38 pillars. After 3 times and 10 months, the 41st span of padma ground was installed on December 10, 2020 on pillars 12 and 13. Per span weight 3200 ton.



Padma Bridge Length

Length of the Padma Bridge is6.150 km and the range is18.18 cadence. Total span 41 and each span is 150 cadence long. Total Pile of the ground is 286 where 262 piles are made by sword and 24 piles are made by concrete. Pile length 128m and pile dia 3m. Each pier contains 6 no piles. There's a 4- lane express track on both sides of the Padma ground which is 22m wide. Dhaka to Bhanga thruway length is 55 km. Land accession of about 1471 hectares for the bridge.

The Government will give colorful serviceability services through the ground. The Southern region of the country will get important services which weren't possible without the ground. serviceability service list given below

Earthquake Information

As per design, Padma Bridge can survive a high earthquake. The masterminds used a pendulum bearing for Padma Bridge which can carry a weight of,000 ton. The bridge can survive a9.o Richter scale earthquake.




Padma Bridge Opening Date

The induction of the Padma Bridge on June 25 will be celebrated in a manner that will truly let the general public be a part of the achievement-- Bangladesh's first single funded mega design.

After the sanctioned induction of the 6.15- kilometre bridge at the Mawa end, the ruling Awami League is each set to organise a series of programmes at the Janjira end showcasing one of the country's biggest profitable achievements since emancipation.

A gargantuan congregation of 10 lakh people has been planned at Kathalbari of Shibchar in Madaripur quarter on the august occasion, AL sources said.

A stage, shaped like a boat, the AL's electoral symbol, will be erected on the bank of the Padma at the Kathalbari ferry outstation, from where the entire ground is visible.

Standing atop the boat- shaped stage, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will face the gathering while various boats carrying the ruling party sympathizers ply the swash.

The long- cherished ground from Mawa to Janjira over the potent swash will directly connect the southwestern corridor of the country with Dhaka and the northern and eastern regions.

AL decided to gather the actors from nearby sections and 21 southern sections.

People will visit on launches, trolleys and motorcars. AL central leaders are now visiting the southern sections and holding meetings with original party leaders to ensure the participation of 10 lakh people, the sources said.

The initial jubilee will be held under tight security and the entire area will be brought under CCTV content.

The Janjira rally will be followed by different daylong programmes including an artistic show in the evening with the participation of the country's popular artistic personalities.

Before that, the PM is expected to inaugurate the Padma Bridge at the Mawa end at 900 am in a programme organised by the government.

She'll also attend a communal gathering comprising,500-,000 people from all professional bodies, elderly government officers, leaders from different political parties, civil society members and diplomats.

After the meeting, she'll cross the bridge in an SUV, becoming the first citizen to use the bridge officially. On the contrary, the end of the bridge, at Janjira point, will await a foundation shrine to be inaugurated by the premier.From there, she'll join the mammoth rally.

Two showpieces of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina will be unveiled on both sides of the ground.

The bridge, erected at a cost of Tk,193 crore, is likely to be decorated with flags of Bangladesh and ChiLength

 A Chinese contractor erected the structure.
